ORCA TAUPO 07!

Orca Taupo 07Ironman Taupo 07 will be kicking off again in just over a month, and Orca-sponsored athlete Cameron Brown is chomping at the bit to take back the title he lost in such bizarre circumstances during last year’s race; while the latest addition to the Orca family, Kieran Doe is focussed on making this his first NZ title; and new female athlete Hillary Biscay is intending on continuing her reign as the fastest woman out of the water.

The Orca Team will once again be down there offering great deals on product – as well as showcasing our latest wetsuit for the long-distance athlete, the Orca 3.8!  Check out below for more information on this incredible innovation in wetsuit technology – we’ve taken wetsuits to a whole new level for the long-distance champion.

We’ll be based in our usual spot at Pointon’s Ski Shop, 13 Tongariro Street, from Monday 26 Feb through to Sunday 4 March.  Cameron, Kieran and Hillary will be in-store from midday to 2pm on Wednesday 28 February offering competitors and spectators alike great tips and tricks to make their training and racing all the better.

This year we’ll be once again offering our fantastic trade-in deal for your old wetsuit for either the latest 3.8 or the latest Apex2.  Long or short distance – we have you covered!  If you are making it down, look forward to seeing you there – but most important of all – GO CAMERON, KIERAN AND HILLARY!

LORNE PIER TO PUB AND ORCA – A GREAT COMBINATION

Lorne Pier to PubThis is the second year that Orca has been involved with this historical Ocean Swim – and we’ll once again be there on the day offering hire suits to give you that ‘edge’ on your swim!   Each year 4000 people dive into a sea of history and swim the 1.2 kilometre course of the Lorne Pier to Pub.

The event encapsulates mateship, friendly competition and fun. The course distance enables swimmers of all age groups to participate. Swimmers are separated into groups of around 300 people of similar age and graded according to their expected swim time. Waves of swimmers enter the water from a ramp near the pier at five to 10 minute intervals from 12.30pm to 2.15pm. Times are recorded at the finish line on the Pier to Pub computer system and published in the Herald Sun Newspaper the next morning and on the Pier to Pub website.

Proceeds from the Pier to Pub go to the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club to help fund its voluntary lifesaving activities on the Lorne foreshore, and to fit-out its new clubhouse. The club also assists other local charities, such as the Lorne Hospital and organisations associated with the Rotary Club of Highton, with a portion of the proceeds.

Once again this year’s event sold out in under two weeks.  Certainly testament to its popularity!  Orca’s proud to be involved with such a great event, and wishes the best of luck to all those competing; we’ll be there on the day so don’t hesitate in coming along to try out our latest wetsuits to give you the edge on your swim!
